Generator vs solar

What does a year of generator and hookups cost you?

Solar's case is mostly the money you stop spending. Put in last year's fuel and campground fees and see the number it's up against.

Every dollar starts blank. Nothing here is a fuel price or a campground rate. Use your receipts.

01 The generator

02 Hookups

Count only the nights you paid extra for power or picked a site because you needed it.

03 Solar

Not turned into dollars. A campsite doesn't have a utility rate, and we won't invent one.

How to read it

This is a one-year snapshot: fuel gallons × your price, plus hookup nights × your fee. If solar covers most of your boondocking power, that total is roughly what it stands to save each year.

It won't cover everything. Air conditioning on a hot afternoon still wants a generator or shore power on most rigs. Run the solar planner with and without the A/C checked to see the difference.
